I've done some work with Arduinos. The DRO's on my mill and lathe are Arduino based and I've also done some work with Arduino controlled EID (for livestock) readers.

Very cheap and easy to program, with plenty of examples out there.

You might want to expand a little on your request.

I've been thinking about using an Arduino to control the orchard irrigation system. Put some moisture sensors in various places and get them to talk to my server which would determine whether I should turn the irrigation system on. I'd log the data and even water use and build a dashboard on a website which would show all the gory details.

This is on my list of things to do, so probably won't get done.
